About Storyvor
STORYVOR launched in 2025 with the mission to spread the joy of reading to all. We believe deeply that literacy is key to understanding both ourselves and the world around us, and research agrees: Reading makes us happier, more connected humans.
However, literacy rates are sinking among young people, and books are being sidelined, banned, or simply ignored. Now, more than ever, we need to slow down, read, connect, and dive into other worldviews and perspectives through stories.
Cue STORYVOR, an English-language literacy resource with a global eye, providing carefully researched tips, teaching materials, reading recommendations, and more from a variety of contributors around the world.
We are generously financed through the Swiss non-profit FOUNDATIONS IN LITERACY.

At the heart of literacy is access — to thoughtful storytelling, diverse voices, and vibrant communities of readers. That’s why we believe in ethical book buying and supporting independent booksellers. Unlike major online retailers, indie bookstores invest in their neighborhoods, champion underrepresented authors, and help keep the literary ecosystem thriving. When you buy local, you're making sure literacy, publishing, and a wide range of voices and authors can be sustained and celebrated.
At STORYVOR, all of our affiliate links lead to Bookshop.org, which gives back to independent bookstores. As Bookshop.org currently only ships to the US and UK, we also supply unaffiliated links to Better World Books, which offers shipping of new and used books globally. However, your best bet? Go to the bookshop in your town or city, or your local library. If they don’t have what you’re looking for, they’ll most likely be happy to get it for you.

We are primarily run by volunteers who care deeply about literacy and have given countless hours of their time to provide the resources here. However, to cover operation costs and in order to pay future contributors, we are dependent on generous donations from FOUNDATIONS IN LITERACY, a Swiss non-profit committed to global literacy.
In order to run our magazine sustainably, we also use affiliate links. If you enjoy our content, and choose to purchase a book based on our recommendations, we appreciate you buying your copy using the buy links on our website.
-
Affiliate links are the links you click on when you make a purchase through the “Buy book” buttons. In those cases a small commission goes back to STORYVOR and you directly support our mission to spread literacy and continue offer free resources to parents and educators. It’s no extra cost to you, but it makes a big difference.
Our affiliate links lead you to Bookshop.org, which ships worldwide and supports independent bookshops, meaning you're also contributing to small business and making a stand for more conscious consumption. Regardless of where you choose to buy your books, we always recommend supporting independent bookshops where possible.
